March 4

It is not that nothing has been happening lately... actually a lot has been happening, but it has been primarily work related. I have been traveling out of town a lot and working some long hours, and that translates to not really being in much of a mood to hop on the computer while I am at home.
The weather lately has been fairly schitzophrenic (alternating bright sun and heavy snowfall yesterday) and I am eagerly awaiting spring at this point. I really wouldn't mind another good snowstorm, as long as it is a "real" snowstorm - heavy snow, blizzard conditions, and something that sticks around for a while. No more of this quick, teasing bits of snow that leave us with nothing more then a rim of dirty snow/slush at the edges of the roads a day or two later.
Friday was nice... John and I both ended up with the day off, so we went down to Newport for lunch and a visit to the aquarium, where we got to pet baby sharks and feed nectar to lorikeets, among other things. Later that afternoon, in between and during games of chess, we tried out a baked chicken recipie that called for (among other things) 20 cloves of garlic (though it was the amount of garlic that caught our attention). You can never have too much garlic, and the resulting meal was delicious. Verdict - something to make again, despite being rather labor intensive.
I am looking forward to more chess this evening, possibly accompanied by a martini.
