Oye.
Work is... interesting these days. Isn't that a curse? May you live in interesting times? Normally, I don't like to talk about work here, and I think that goes about double right now. Maybe in a little while, after I have figured out a way to be appropriatly vague about a number of things, so that I can discuss them and still not catch any trouble over it.
Oye.
Let's see.
The website that I did for my brothers' new business is up and running. The content is skeletal for right now, but I will flesh it out later, when they have the time and energy to think up some more content for me. I would write the content for them, except for the minor fact that I know nothing whatsoever about the buying, selling, milling, etc of various metals and alloys. AQ Alloys & Forge. Check them out, especially if you have any alloy or forge needs.
My iTunes Library seems to be inexplicably missing large chunks of my music library. Very large chunks. I had better be able to recover all of my music or I will be Very Annoyed.
My eyes have been dry, scratchy, and itchy all day. Hello spring. Hello springtime pollen allergies.

[Taken March 8, 2008 | Walking in a winter wonderland... | Dayton, OH]
Um. Weekend... what weekend? I spent most of it working on my side projects, namely the site that I am building for the business that two of my brothers are starting. It is all coded up now (witht he standard lorem ipsum placeholders for text) and as soon as they send me content, then I can cut-and-paste it in and push everything online. It is a fairly simple site, but I am pretty pleased with the way that it is turning out.
We got a pretty substantial winter storm here Friday and Saturday... substantial enough to please me and to remind me (in a happy way, since I love the winter and snow and ice) of Ann Arbor, Cleveland, and Ithaca. It was glorious. We got over a foot of snow.
It started coming down pretty heavily mid-morning on Friday, and by noon the roads were already really messed up. As soon as my meetings were done, I just packed up and left since I can work just as easily at home (maybe easier, since at home I have the cats and the coffeemaker) as I can at work... I later heard from a friend that shortly after I left the office was closed. Nice to know that I am a step ahead of the important trends.
That is my neighborhood in the photo. Saturday afternoon when the snow had slacked off a little bit, and when the wind had died down substantially, John and I and some cameras took a walk around the neighboorhood. Plows were going through every couple of hours - at least on the main roads - but weren't making much of a dent. We walked down the middle of the road because at least there the snow was only 5 or 6 inches deep as opposed to knee deep. We didn't see too many other people out and about. There were a few cars, and some very optimistic homeowners industrially shoveling or snowblowing their driveways. We walked down Munger a ways, then turned around and walked over to the arboretum. The arboretum gates were shut (we walked around) and the road in was not plowed, so we waded through snow that varied from knee-deep (on where we figured the road was) to hip-deep (the drifts and the areas around the pond). We didn't stay there too long... it was tiring wading through snow that deep, and I was getting snow up my pant legs and was getting kind of cold. Nice long walk though. I like going out and walking around after a good snowstorm.
The snow in the front yard was a solid, smooth sheet, and you couldn't tell where the front porch ended bacause of how deep it was. Same for the back yard and deck. When we opened the garage door, there was a little avalanch of snow into the garage from the snow that had drifted up agains the garage door. There was a similar avalanch of snow into the house when we opened up the back door to see if the cats wanted to explore outside a little bit... both cats declined to go anywhere near the snow.
Of course, now the sun is out and the snow is melting away again, but all good things come to an end, and it was great while it lasted. It is probably too much to hope for that we get one more good snow before the end of winter...
