March 22

I have finally finished editing and uploading the photos that I took at the performances at the dance studio on March 13. They are, of course, all on my flickr site.
I made a whirlwind in-and-out trip to LA to visit customers on Wednesday to Friday... flew in on Wednesday (and getting there turned out to be a complete nightmare, thanks to Delta airlines and the complete horrorshow that is the Atlanta hub) arriving fairly late at night, meetings and customer shadowing and interviews all day the next day (literally 6:30am to almost 6pm) and then back again to LAX for a red-eye home. It would have been nice to be able to drop in on my brothers for a quick visit, but there was just no way that would have worked out with the schedule that I had.
I got a new computer toy. My 500GB external hard drive is pretty much full, as were both of the internal hard drived on my computer. So I ordered a 1 terabyte external hard drive from amazon just before I left on the trip, and it arrived a couple of hours after I got home. Amazon is great that way... I have emptied about 90% of the photo files that were on my internal hard drives onto it. Since it is so large, it ought to be at least a year or so before I manage to fill it up.
Since it is spring, it is spring cleaning time here at the casa... starting today with the fridge. I can't remember the last time we hauled everything out of the fridge, evaluated it for freshness (we found some jars and such shoved in the back that had expiration dates in 2007... ick), defrosted it, and scrubbed it all out. So, obviously, it was way past time for such an operation. The plan is for the whole house to be spring-cleaned, slowly, over the next couple of weeks.

Bozenka was at the Oasis to teach a workshop this weekend (I was unable to attend, since my parents came to town to visit) and performed at the hafla on Friday. I got some oretty good photos.
Oh yeah. Happy St. Patrick's (a.k.a. "green beer") Day.
I totally forgot to wear orange today. My bad.
March 13
It is Friday the 13th, so I am prepared for it to be a good day.
When I was driving back to work from lunch the other day I heard an absolutely hysterical monologue from David Pogue on NPR on “How to Twitter: Twittering Tips for Beginners”. It made me laugh out loud, and I wish that I could find it (either in streaming audio form or transcript form) it was that awesome. A quote that can remember from it goes something like this… “How to Twitter… Step 1, ask yourself ‘What am I doing?’ Step 2, remind yourself that no one cares…”
Does anyone care? Why should I bother to keep up with this site? After all, if I want a record of my daily life, the moleskin notebook that I carry around with me is much better… I can jot down random thoughts, funny things I overhear, what I think about current news and politics, photography ideas, amusing vanity license plates that I see on my daily commute, dinner ideas, and endless lists…
I know that there are indeed some people who care (Hi Mom and Dad! Hi John! Hi Uncle Jim!) about reading what I am up to, which is why I still do this… Besides... I do enjoy putting up my photography, and having an online portfolio is never a bad thing.
This site is sort of the “sanitized for others” version of my opinions, activities, and neuroses.
Fencing at Ceilidh this past weekend went well… very well, as I won both of the tournaments. First there was the “authentic” portion of the Authentic Accoutrements tournament for having garb (thanks for the tailoring, John!) and a fencing style (German longsword, based on the style and teachings of master Liechtenauer) consistent with my chosen period, which is late-period (1580s) lowlands Dutch. I am also the new Capitaine de Grif – the fencing champion for my barony. This position comes with some nifty regalia (that I can add to my regalia for being the South Oaken Regional Champion) and the honored duty of escorting my baron and baroness into and out of court, as well as standing behind them during court.
Work has been work, and other then the expected belt-tightening, not much about the daily routines there have changed with the current economy, for which I am very thankful. I did find out that I got a (small) merit/cost-of-living pay raise, which is much more then the 0% merit/cost-of-living pay raise that I was expecting.
Item of note at work: The Hello Kitty toy that I (used to, now) have on my desk is missing, and I cannot find it on, under or around my desk. Fortunately, Jigglypuff is still accounted for.
